Rich subject, such rich images. I particularly love 'It burns with buried light.' Now I feel what's the point of any other subject but blood!

you can thank my 12yo daughter for the 'buried light' - it was almost 'hidden light' but she advised me to change it back... <3

Poets in the blood then!

That single line, smack in the middle, uncoupled from the couplets, is superb. Great piece.

glad to hear that peter - I very nearly changed my mind about it before posting the poem!

It's a viscerally beautiful poem; reading it though I just hope you're ok 🙏

I always sit with your images a bit longer. They always pays off, too, once they become clear to the mind. Great work

thanks rob - I think it takes quite a few liberties, so I'm glad to know it resonates

Bloody good. Imagery sleek, subtle and pungent '...your family name like a folded note.' And the blood like 'a tarred ghost'. A daring one, and works like a poke in the eye.

cheers john!

This is superb. I didn't know I needed a poem about blood, but now I know better.

my pleasure michael - hope your work is flowing also...

It is, thank you. More and more I am just working with dust (charcoal).
