The way the last two lines in the refrain read
And leave behind a curious few
Verses that come into leaf
It sounds almost as if the line had been clipped like a leaf and floated down. I really like this one.
thanks - and yes, that last line seemed to decide that it wanted to be dactyls, not iambs; and just sort of skipped away whistling
